I just wanna use less cables inside my system.Īlso I agree i shoulda done my research more but asus is pretty tricky with their M.2 support in the manual instead of just pointing out BIG letters M.2 PCIE support only its in a fine print lol wouldn't you think it be important to let your customers know straight off the bat that it only supports what it supports and I didn't buy this board for the fastest M.The installer detects the system's capabilities and installs the relevant drivers and applications. Well it is silly, not everyone is interested in speed, why would their lower end Z97i Plus support M.2 PCIe and M.2 Sata while their top line only supports M.2 PCIe, MSI's top line supports bothĪnd as for M.2 PCIe being the future, yea it is but at this point there no many to choice from and for the price they are charging its like buying DDR4 vs DDR3 it's not worth it in some peoples eye, I like M.2 for more of the form factor then the speed cause all I'll be loading on a ssd is my OS and it already boots up within 3 secs which i don't think i would care for it to be any faster.

Has anyone else tried using a TPM with this board? Has anyone else had issues similar to this? Windows doesn't see it (though I do have a "Other Devices -> PCI Simple Communications Controller" with an alert icon in my Device Manager this may be related). The BIOS doesn't seem to recognize the module any more (and I don't even remember where in the menus it showed up, sadly). This morning, Tuesday, I boot my machine and it decides to ask for the Bitlocker recovery key. That night I take it home and set it up again, and everything is fine. Saturday I take the computer to a friends house and we play some multiplayer Elite Dangerous.

Over the next two weeks I slowly install software as I need it. Reboot, all is well with the world, and my computer is working great.

After 3 attempts at enabling bitlocker with verification of the key (and the subsequent reboots / failures), I finally enable it without verification. Set up the TPM chip / take ownership / etc. This resolved the network device problem right away, and after rebooting into the BIOS again I discovered the security menu in the BIOS right away, and was able to enable the TPM. Realized there was a BIOS update, decided to go for it. Got everything working except for the TPM module and the wired network.

The next day I uninstalled the network driver and installed/updated all the drivers from the ASUS website.

This is terribly documented and I was unable to find any literature regarding it online. I went to use the ASUS TPM module I had purchased from Amazon as well, and unfortunately it was undetected. The wired network device stopped working, however thankfully I was able to continue with Wireless. After booting, I chose to install the network / sound / Northbridge drivers from the CD that came with the motherboard (I honestly can't remember the last time I had to use one of these). Installed my copy of Window 8, discovered there were apparently no network drivers during setup. My story so far (in case anyone else has questions / similar issues with their motherboard): Unfortunatley this morning the TPM doesn't seem to be showing up at all in Windows or the BIOS, and I'm not sure why. So far it's been fairly reliable only had a few issues setting it up, but I did eventually get everything working. Ordered this board from Amazon on Black Friday to install in my M1 rev 2.
